DELORES LORENZEN...
was born to Hans and Frieda (Ivens) Callsen on March 18, 1931 on a farm in Rose Dell Township of Rock County, Minnesota where she was raised and attended country school in District #36 S.E. On May 10, 1931, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota and confirmed there on June 24, 1945. She attended high school at Jasper High School, graduating in 1949. Upon completion of her education, she became employed at the Rock County Star Herald in Luverne, Minnesota. On January 21, 1951, she was united in marriage to Elmer Lorenzen at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm in Rose Dell Township, near Hardwick. In 1955, they moved to a farm in Springwater Township in Rock County. Then, in 1961, they moved to a farm in Rose Dell Township and continued to farm there. During those years on the farm, Delores was an active partner with Elmer farming their land and raising their livestock. Following their retirement in 1995, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. On September 27, 2000, Elmer preceded her in death. After his death, Delores continued to live in Pipestone. On Saturday, March 3, 2012, she died at her home at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 14 days.
Delores was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper where she was active in the Ladies Aid, Bible Study, and the Trinity Couples Club. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Pipestone and the Ihlen Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards and participated in several card clubs. For over 58 years, she belonged to the Pinochle Club. She volunteered at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone and several other organizations for many years. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed many trips with her family and friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Linda and her husband Don Groth of Kerkhoven, Minnesota, Paula Hodge of Willmar, Minnesota, Terrance “Terry” Lorenzen and LaDonna Rosenthal of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Cynthia “Cyndy” and her husband Mike Baustian of Jasper, Minnesota, and Kristi and her husband Tony Ficker of Centennial, Colorado; six grandchildren; Shawna, Amber and Erik Baustian and Hannah, John and Adam Ficker; one sister, Ellaine and her husband Garfield “Garf” Henriksen of Brandon, South Dakota; one brother, Arnold and his wife Judy Callsen of Hardwick, Minnesota; and her sister-in-law, Pat Callsen. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother; Fred Callsen; and her son-in-law, Bob Hodge.
