Adeline Chovancek

ADELINE CHOVANCEK was born August 6, 1926 to John and Anna (Chovan) Chovancek in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She grew up in Minneapolis in the area known as the “Bohemian Flats.” She graduated from South High School in 1944. Following her education she began working for the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis. She had also worked part-time for Donaldson’s Department Store and Wayzata School District. Adeline resided in Minnetonka and upon her retirement she moved to Plymouth, Minnesota. Adeline entered the care of Mary Jane Brown, Good Samaritan Home in Luverne, Minnesota in March of 2016. She died there on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the age of 89 years.

Adeline was a member of the First Czechoslovak Baptist Church (later known as Immanuel Baptist Church) in south Minneapolis. She was a member of the Czechoslovak Genealogy Society. She enjoyed traveling and was proud of having made the journey to Europe a total of thirteen times. She had also enjoyed visits to Mexico and attending the Olympic Games. She loved to downhill ski and go shopping.

Adeline is lovingly remembered by her sister, Ruth Chovancek of Plymouth, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Rose Vance of Ankeny, Iowa; five nieces, Karen DeCort (and Joe) of Aurora, Illinois, Kathy Hansen (and Jerry) of Beaver Creek, Minnesota, Kim Hatherly (and Todd) of Gainesville, Virginia, Anna Williams (and Phil) of Clive, Iowa, and Mary Vance of Ankeny, Iowa; many great-nieces and great-nephews, Joey and John DeCort, Jacob, Lucas and Nicholas Hansen, Sam and Emma Williams, Tyler, Katelyn and Trevor Hatherly. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Chovancek; sisters, Anne Chovancek, Eleanor Hartmark, Helen Duran; brothers, Gerald, Milan and John Chovancek. Blessed be her memory.
