Agnes Frances Oye was born to James and Marie (Kunst) Novak on November 10, 1928 in Flandreau, South Dakota. She was baptized in the Catholic Church in Flandreau. In 1935, she moved with her parents to a farm east of Pipestone, Minnesota where she was confirmed at St. Leo Catholic Church. After she graduated from Pipestone High School in 1947, she worked at the Northland Caf and the Speedway Caf in Pipestone. In 1950, she married Morris Oye in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they farmed north of Pipestone. Later they moved to Hadley and joined the Hadley Lutheran Church where she was the church custodian. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid there. While living in the Slayton area, she was President of the Murray County ARC. She was also a board member of the DAC committee for the handicapped. When she moved back to Pipestone, she joined First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed hand stitching crib quilts and embroidering. She loved her family dearly. After her husband died, Agnes moved into Storybrook Apartments in 2003. On Friday, December 2, 2016, she died at her home in Storybrook at the age of 88 years and 22 days.
Agnes is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Ron Oye and his wife Cindy of Aurora, South Dakota, and Rich Oye and his special friend Sally of Pipestone, Minnesota; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian DeToy of Brandon, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris; her son, Steven; three brothers, Milton Novak and two infant brothers; and one sister, Mary Headrick..
