Agneta Marie Kock was born to Jens Christian and Marie Christine (Oerter) Jensen on September 10, 1927 on a farm in Marshfield Township, near Tyler, Minnesota, where she was raised and attended Marshfield country school. After her graduation from Tyler High School on May 29, 1946 she worked at Swift Poultry and then as a receptionist for the Tyler Clinic. In her younger years she enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for the Tyler Tornadoes with her family and friends. On October 14, 1967 Agneta married Vernon Kock at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with two children and 48 years of life together. The couple lived and farmed west of Lake Benton until 1993. In 2003 they moved into Lake Benton. In 2013Agneta became a resident of the Morningside Care Center in Marshall, Minnesota where on Thursday, February 11, 2016 she died at the age of 88.
Agneta was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, where she taught Sunday School and served in the Dorcas Society. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, and baking, and was known for the best caramel rolls and apple bars. She especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Agneta is lovingly remembered by her husband, Vernon of Tyler, Minnesota; her daughters, Debra (Bill) Schaefer of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and Donna (Brad) Wendorff of Marshall, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Samantha and Dana Schaefer, and Abigail, Randi, and Ethan Wendorff; three siblings, Arnold Jensen of Salem, Oregon, Anitra Schardin of DeSmet, South Dakota, and Marjorie (Ben) Moberg of Marshall, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; and seven siblings, Alma Sorensen, Ellen Jensen, Norma Brue, Merna Lund, Raymond Jensen, Lorraine Jensen, and Lois Barck.
