Agneta Evelyn Rasmussen was born August 19, 1926 to Ejnert and Edel (Ollegaard) Nielsen in Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. Following her education she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Tyler Hospital from 1945-1947, and ten years at Tyler Fairway grocery store. On February 28, 1947 Agneta married Robert Rasmussen at Danebod Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with three children and 46 years of life together. Agneta faithfully fulfilled her calling as a housewife and mother. Her husband, Robert, died in 1993. She lived in her Tyler home until 2008 when she became a resident of Central Minnesota Senior Care in Lake Benton, Minnesota. She had been hospitalized in Marshall, Minnesota and on Monday, December 3, 2012 Agneta died at Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 14 days.
Agneta was a member of Danebod Lutheran Church where she had been a part of Danebod Ladies Aid. She volunteered with the Tyler Community Chest. She enjoyed gardening, watching the Twins and Vikings, and playing cards, and especially appreciated time with her family.
Agneta is lovingly remembered by her daughter Jane Palmer and her husband Jim of Winona, Minnesota; grandson, Josh (Brittney) Rasmussen of Brookings, South Dakota; brothers, David (Aggie) Nielsen of Tyler, Minnesota and Dale (Jean) Nielsen of Tyler, Minnesota; sisters, Vivian Nelson of Lake Benton, Minnesota and Marjorie Meinders of Edmond, Oklahoma; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her two sons, John and Lyle Rasmussen; a brother, LeRoy Nielsen; and her parents.
