ALBERT LEROY SEGLEM was born April 3, 1922 in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of the late Albert John Seglem and Flossie (Mitchell) Seglem. He was raised and received her education in Kingsley and LaMars, Iowa. He and his brother, Robert Seglem had owned and operated a farm in Yamhill, Oregon for ten years milking cows and raising walnuts. Albert later worked for Remi Coussens as a Dairy Farmer for twenty years, until 1987 when he retired. Albert had resided in the Glencoe district for many years, until 2006, when he moved to the Beehive Assisted Living Community where on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 he died at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 19 days.
He was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Oregon and was a great supporter of the preschool children, having enjoyed providing cookies for the class. Among his special interests he enjoyed traveling and reading.
Albert is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Norman D. and Alice Seglem, of Cut Bank, Montana and his sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Joseph Sabatell, of San Anelmo, California. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, including Dennis and Betsy Seglem, of Cut Bank, Montana; Kelli and Chad Wendlandt, of Magna, Utah; Eugene and Vickie Epling, of Swanville, Minnesota; Judy and Bill McGuire, of Weiser, Idaho; and Gary Rockfellow, of Downey, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Flossie Seglem; his two brothers, Robert Seglem in July of 1980 and Floyd Seglem in December of 2009 and his two sisters, Clara Epling in January 2004 and Flora Rockfellow in February of 2004.
