ALICE MAE LUNEBURG was born March 16, 1933 to Alex and Helen (French) Kepple in Olivia, Minnesota. She attended school in Olivia and Danube, Minnesota until her family moved to Magnolia, Minnesota where she then attended Magnolia High School and graduated in 1951. Following graduation Alice lived and worked during the week in Luverne, Minnesota at Tri-State Insurance. On May 8, 1955 Alice was united in marriage to Wayne Luneburg at the Magnolia United Methodist Church. Wayne was discharged from the US Navy on February 15, 1956 and the couple began farming northeast of Magnolia. Alice was a homemaker, raising their two children, Steven and Cynthia while also working on the farm. The couple moved from the farm to their home in Luverne in 1997. Alice was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer on August 20, 2014. On Sunday, October 19, 2014 while at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage surrounded by her family, Alice went to be with her Lord at the age of 81 years, seven months and three days.
She was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church where she was confirmed and belonged to the United Methodist Women and the Rebecca and Mary Martha Circles. Alice taught Sunday School and was a delegate to the annual church conference. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She belonged to 4-H and was a good seamstress. She even sewed her own wedding dress. Alice enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans, some for charity, as well as quilts. She liked reading, baking and gardening. Alice and Wayne enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing cards. They also enjoyed wintering for nearly 25 years at Park Place Estates in Harlingen, Texas.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Wayne of Luverne; her two children, Steven and his wife Linda of Winterset, Iowa and Cynthia and her husband Mike Kunkel of Luverne, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Justin Luneburg, Jenna (Jason) Silber, Ty Luneburg, Curtis (Barbara) Kunkel, and Amy (Jon) Mollberg; six great-grandchildren, Kenady, Maya, Jade, Summer, Hazel and Raven; and a sister, June Stubbins of Midlothian, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Helen Kepple; and her brother-in-law, James Stubbins.
