Allen "Archie" E. Faaborg

Allen “Archie” Elon Faaborg was born on May 5, 1939 to Herluf and Laura Victoria (Christensen) Faaborg in Tyler, Minnesota. Growing up he was raised on a farm and enjoyed helping his parents with the chores. He was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Church. Archie attended Tyler High School and graduated in the class of 1957. After graduation, he started driving for Floyd Wild. On February 6, 1960 Allen was united in marriage to Janis Kaye Schrunk they began farming and milking cows, a career he would follow for the next ten years. The couple was blessed with two children, Keven and Cheryl. In 1971, Archie began his truck driving journey, he hauled produce from California and Texas also hauled meat for Johnson Feed to Mt Vernon, Texas and salt back from Lyon, Kansas.  Later he bought a tanker and hauled Amoco gas. He also hauled hay for Miedema. Archie ran The Pallet Shack in Pipestone for about five years. In 2013 he went up to Tioga, North Dakota and drove truck in the oil fields for Hoffman Trucking. In 2016, Archie retired at the age of 77. He enjoyed working with wood, he refurbished an old manure spreader and an old wooden cart for Cheryl and also helped her with a few craft projects. On July 23, 2023, Allen passed away at the Tyler Hospital at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 18 days.

Archie enjoyed spending time outdoors and was particularly fond of fishing. He preferred ice fishing, but often went boating to fish despite not being able to swim. He also enjoyed traveling and camping. He had the trip of a lifetime when he traveled to Big Island, Hawaii in 2014. He was a hard working man who preferred to keep things simple, short, and to the point.

Archie is survived by his children, Keven (Becky) Faaborg of Ward, South Dakota and Cheryl Vos of Tyler; his siblings, Sharron (Dan Clark) Faaborg of Bay Point, California, Doug (Lona) Faaborg of Custer, South Dakota; grandchildren, Christy (Zach) Norgaard, Bryan (Jessica) Faaborg, Brandon (McKenna) Faaborg, Shawn (Katy) Vos, Kristopher (Kayla) Vos, Robbyn (Matt) Kerkaert; great-grandchildren, Corbyn, Camryn, Able, Hoss Faaborg, Jayden, Tucker, Tyson, Avery, Hayden Vos, Jackson, Justin and Jettison Kerkaert. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jeanette Walters; his brother, Dennis (Jolean) Faaborg and his son in law, Richard Vos.
