Ana Matos Ruiz

Ana Lidia Matos Ruiz was born on March 10, 1943 to Fernando Matos and Cecilia Ruiz in Aguada, Puerto Rico.  On October 31, 1989 she moved with her five children by herself from Puerto Rico to the Chicago, Illinois area.  She continued to provide for and raise her kids and in 2015 she moved to Minnesota with one of her sons for several years before returning back to Puerto Rico.  She lived in Puerto Rico for some time before moving back to Minnesota shortly after hurricane Maria.  She lived in Jasper, Minnesota most recently with one of her daughters.  She died peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the age of 80.  

Ana like sewing, dominoes, and playing the lottery.  She loved cooking for her family and watching soap operas.  She will be remembered for her jokes and sarcasm.  She had a feisty spirit and was filled with lots of love for her children and grandchildren.

Ana is lovingly remembered by her children, Ana (Fernando) Gonzalez of Chicago, Illinois, Angel L. (Trinidad) Garcia of Jasper, Minnesota, Manuel (Mayra) Garcia Matos of Jasper, Minnesota, Johanna (Juan Carlos Perez) Garcia of Jasper, Minnesota, and Luis (Guadalupe) Garcia of Pipestone, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren, Nandia, Angel, Antwan, Maya, Madalynn, Maxx, Angel, Giselle, Owen, Joannacrystal, Carloseriel, Juan Carlos, William, and Alexander; siblings, Delia (Carlos) Matos-Garcia of Puerto Rico, Hilda (Ismael) Vasquez of Puerto Rico, Virginia Gonzales of Chicago, Illinois, and Fernando Matos.  She was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex Garcia.
