ANDREW ROZEBOOM was born on October 6, 1923 to John D. and Cena (Vander Ploeg) Rozeboom in Steen, MN. He attended Hills High School in Hills, MN. Andrew was united in marriage to Mildred Ter Louw on February 2, 1945 in Steen. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 26, 1946. Following honorable discharge in 1947, Andrew and Mildred returned home from WW II to Steen, where they farmed from 1948 to 1973.
During these early years Andrew attended and later taught Sunday School at the Steen Reformed Church, in Steen. Andrew enjoyed his time as a 4-H leader and was an active member as well as serving as president of Farmers Union Oil Board of Luverne as well as serving on the Steen School Board many years.
From 1973 to 1985 they lived in Yankton, SD, Winnebago, MN, Luverne, MN, Slayton, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, and Minneapolis, MN. In 1985 they retired to Luverne and spent the next 15 years wintering in Tucson, AZ and summering back in Luverne where Andy worked at the Luverne Farm Store and helped a local vet, John Bowron. Mildred passed away in November of 2000. On March 15, 2002, Andrew and Betty McManigle were united in marriage in Tucson, and continued to reside in both Luverne and Tucson. Throughout these years Andy enjoyed woodworking, writing short stories about life on the farm, working at the Rodeo Museum and driving in the rodeo parades. On Friday, March 4, 2011 Andy died in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 28 days.
Andrew will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty; three sons, Andrew John “Buster” (Nancy) of Maple Grove, MN, Melvin (special friend, Linda) of Eden Prairie, MN, and Irwin (Kathy) of Beaver Creek, MN; daughter, Barbara (Willis) Sandbulte of Adrian, MN; nine grandchildren, Keith (Rebel) Rozeboom, Heather (Dirk) Anderson, David Rozeboom, Stacy (David) Mente, Lanette (Kurtis) Elbers, Aaron (Dawn) Sandbulte, Derek (Angie) Sandbulte, Cody (special friend, Amanda), Kyle Rozeboom; seventeen great-grandchildren; four step-sons, John (Diane), Glen (Candy), Dana (Jane) and Paul (Michele); twelve step-grandchildren; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Winifred Boeve of Omaha, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cena; first wife, Mildred; five brothers; four sisters; and one step-daughter.
