ANITA MARIE (GODFREY) COOK was born on March 7, 1942 to Otis and Lois (Schlicht) Godfrey at the Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota. She received her baptism and was later confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Following her graduation in 1960 from Luverne High School she attended beauty school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She first became a hairdresser in Webster, South Dakota and later in Luverne, Minnesota. On June 6, 1971 Anita was united in marriage to Ronald Cook at St. John Lutheran Church. As Ron was in the United States Navy, they spent time living in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Following Ron's retirement the couple returned to Minnesota and lived in the Twin Cites area. In 2008, the couple moved to the Shelton, Washington area and made their home in a year-round cabin. On Tuesday, November 17, 2015 Anita died peacefully at their home at the age of 73 years, 8 months and ten days.
Anita always kept active in her church. Through the years she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, participated in the quilting guild and was a member of a card group through her church in Shelton. She enjoyed crafts and was an avid reader. Anita was a quiet, gentle person who always made friends easily. Her love of life and family will be missed.
Anita is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ron; daughter, Jennifer of St. Paul Park, Minnesota; siblings, George (Donna) Godfrey of Virginia, Minnesota, Carol (Robert) Lundholm of Plymouth, Minnesota, Cathlaine Godfrey of Shelton, Washington; sister-in-law, Janice Godfrey of Shakopee, Minnesota; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two siblings, James Godfrey and Linda Godfrey.
Blessed be her memory!
