ARDELLE 'JACKIE' JACQUELINE MCCURDY HICE was born in Pipestone, Minnesota on September 8, 1937 to Ralph E. and Anna B. (Knutson) McCurdy. One year later, her sister Vicky was born. They were best friends, confidants and, at times, mortal enemies (as only sisters can be!). In 1951, she left Minnesota with her sister, her brother Dean, her mother and her stepfather to begin their adventure in California. They spent the next six years there. Jackie was united in marriage to Dwight Jones in 1956; to this union, a baby boy, Andrew, was born in 1959.
Jackie went on to a new life with her husband, Kenneth 'Jack' Hice. They lived in Garden Grove, California for many years before they decided to move back to Pipestone when Jack retired in 1983. Jackie started working at the American Legion selling pull tabs for many years, and it was a job that she truly enjoyed. Jackie was always a very talented person and she enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to do needlepoint and made many wonderful pictures. She also took lessons and learned how to oil paint, again producing many lovely pictures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed putting puzzles together. Jackie passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at her home in Pipestone, Minnesota. She lived to reach the age of 76 years.
Jackie is survived by her son, Andrew of Texas; her sisters, Vicky Knutson of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Bonnie Froseth of Pipestone, Minnesota; and several other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hice in 1994; her mother, Anna in 1993; her father, Ralph in 1994; her brother, Dean; and one sister, Barbara.
The painting that is on this memorial folder is one produced by Ardelle 'Jackie' Hice.
