Arnold John Haack, age 88, of Windom, Minnesota was born February 13, 1936 to John and Marie Haack in Hartley, Iowa. Arnold was baptized at the First Reformed church in Melvin, Iowa. Growing up he lived twelve years by Ocheyedan, Iowa where he attended Country School District 4. Arnold moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota in 1948 where he attended Country School District 57. Arnold joined the Army National Guard in the fall of 1953 before graduating from Lake Benton High School in 1954.
Arnold worked for multiple farmers after graduating high school. He married the love of his life Betty L. Hines on September 7, 1963. After marriage, Arnold worked for Ernie Fairway and Ron’s Locker from 1959 to 1988. He worked for Rydel’s Locker for a short time before working at Nokomis Apartments for nine years. Arnold retired to Windom, Minnesota in 1998. Arnold never was one for sitting around so he unretired and went to work for Hartshorn Manor in Madelia, Minnesota for three years before retiring again back to Windom where he still worked on a Saturday paper route for three years while working part-time at Moon’s Locker. Arnold died Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Arnold was a member of First Methodist Church in Windom.
Arnold is lovingly remembered by his wife, Betty (Hines) Haack of Windom; children, Gloria (Daryl) Lichtsinn of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Dean Haack of Pipestone, Minnesota, James (Dawn) Haack of Hendricks, Minnesota, and John (Shelly) Haack of Jasper, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean (Haack) Lichtsinn.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie (Muilenburg) Haack; sisters, Bessie Hansen and Mildred Haack; brothers, Henry and Raymond Haack; brothers-in-law, Harry Hansen and Clarence Lichtsinn; and one sister-in-law, Janet Haack.
