Audrey Darlene DeSchepper was born January 16, 1929, to Bennie and Gertrude (Sorenson) Nelson on a farm near Garretson, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. Audrey attended school in Garretson, and Valley Springs, South Dakota. She attended high school in Luverne, Minnesota graduating in 1946. During high school, Audrey worked at Reinstra Bakery, Renfros Variety Store, and Tri State Insurance Company. She was united in marriage to Russell Homer DeSchepper on December 3, 1947 at St. Catherine Rectory in Luverne. Minnesota. She then converted over to Catholicism. The couple made their home in Luverne, moving to Pipestone, Minnesota in 1961. They were blessed with four children; Ronald, Mary, Darla, and Debra. Audrey was a homemaker while raising their family. She also sold Stanley Home Products for many years.
Audrey was a member of the St. Leo Catholic Church where she participated in religious education, was chairman of a church circle, and a member of Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed attending Christian Woman Group and Tuesday Ladies Day Out with her friends. Audrey liked embroidering, reading, holiday decorating, and watching the Minnesota Twins. She and Russell would travel, attend Saturday night dances, and playing cards with a group of longtime friends. Audrey especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She always had a smile.
Audrey passed away on February 1, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 93 years and 16 days. She will be deeply missed.
Audrey is survived by her children, Ronald (Kara) DeSchepper of Pipestone, Darla (Brian) Slack of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Debra (Scott) Mundt of Brookings, South Dakota; grandchildren, Tina (Mike) TerWee, Molly Knutzen, Matthew DeSchepper, Jessica DeSchepper, Emily (Robby) Lundbohn, and Benjamin (Ashley) Mundt; great grandchildren, Owen and Gavin TerWee, Ryder and Lauren DeSchepper, Blake, Cole and Aubrey Knutzen, Jackson, Ellie, and Griffin Lundbohn, and Mackenzie and Mason Mundt; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; infant daughter, Mary; her parents; and her step mother Leona Nelson.
