Audrey Jones

AUDREY FAYE JONES was born August 18, 1926 to Alfred and Magdalina (Wills) Lopau in Sibley, Iowa. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to the Pipestone area. Audrey attended the Troy Township Country School until 9th grade. Audrey met Gordon Jones and the two were married on March 10, 1950 in the Pipestone Methodist Church. Shortly after their marriage, Gordon enlisted in the United States Army and the couple moved to California while Gordon served at Camp Roberts, California. After his honorable discharge from the Army, the family returned to Pipestone. Gordon passed away February 27, 1985. Later in her life, Audrey was lovingly cared for by her son, Greg. Audrey moved to the Pipestone Hospice House on November 11, 2017. She passed away at the Hospice House on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the age of 91 years, two months, and 27 days.

As an active individual, Audrey spent a great deal of time involved in the church and within the community. Audrey was a devout member of the Peace United Methodist Church, spending time at Circle and attending church regularly. In the community, Audrey would volunteer her time as a 4-H leader while her children were younger and acted as the church food shelf organizer and leader. Even though Audrey spent a great deal of her time in church and the community, she made time to attend and host rummage sales and always found time to spend in her vegetable garden. She also liked to bowl and enjoyed swimming at the local recreation center.

Audrey is lovingly remembered by her three children, Sandy (Darwin) Carlson of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Rhonda (Morgan) Smith of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Greg Jones of Pipestone, Minnesota; her six grandchildren, Eric (Beth) Carlson, Dan (Heather) Carlson, Lisa (Luis) Marin, Jenifer (Brad) Javers, Melissa (Clint) Devries, and Angela Smith; ten great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon; her three brothers, Elwin, Milton, and Wayne; her sister, Una; and her parents, Alfred and Magdalina.
