Audrey Luvern Jensen…
was born to Ole and Ida (Snare) Jensen on February 4, 1923 in Slayton Township, Murray County, Minnesota where she lived until 1935 and attended school at District #58. The family moved to a farm in Lyon County where Audrey graduated high school in Balaton, Minnesota and went on to attend Minneapolis Business College. She lived in Long Beach, California for a couple of years and then moved to Houston, Texas where she spent 10 years working as a secretary for J and B Manufacturing Company. In 1957, Audrey moved back to the Minneapolis area and worked for Setchell Carlson Manufacturing and various other companies. She retired in 2003 and lived in Champlin, Minnesota. She was the soul caregiver for three of her aunts while she lived in Champlin. Audrey was the last surviving member of eight children. She moved to Sunrise Village Independent Living Center in Jasper, Minnesota in August of 2015 and had been at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone about a month. On Saturday, July 4, 2020, she died at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone at the age of 97 years and five months.
Audrey was baptized in Hadley Lutheran Church and was confirmed in Aetna Lutheran in Ruthton, Minnesota. She was a choir member of Zion Lutheran in Houston and St. Phillips Lutheran of Fridley, Minnesota where she served on the altar committee. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and Sweet Adelines, a women’s singing group. Audrey loved reading and music. She will be remembered for her accurate memory of the family. She knew the dates of everyone’s birthdays and deaths and where they were buried. She knew the dates of her uncles and aunts and could recall them at any time. She was very interested in family history and was the one to go to when you had a question.
Left to share her memory are her nieces and nephews, Mary Lou Bjugan, Arlyss (Lennis) Hovland, Gary (Renee) Jensen, Crystal (Jay) Gislason, Jayne McCabe, Scott (Penney) Christensen, and Duane (Linda) Christensen. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elwood, John and Duane; four sisters, Arleen, Nadine, Avis and Julienne; a sister-in-law, Betty Jensen and brothers-in-law, Royce Barnes, Levain Mitchell, Bruce Christensen and Daryl McLain; nieces and nephews, Lynn Barnes, Brian Jensen, Ronald Jensen, Harland Bjugan and Bonnie Walters.
