BARBARA KAY KOCK was born on Friday, August 1, 1947 Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was the oldest daughter to Harold Kock and his wife Mary Louise Beever. She was baptized on August 31, 1947 in St. John Lutheran Church at Lake Benton. She was also confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. John Lutheran Church at Lake Benton on June 11, 1961 by Pastor G. Birkholz. On June 3, 1965 she graduated from Lake Benton High School. Following her graduation in 1965 she moved to Mankato and worked at Red Owl Grocery store for mor than 20 years, then with QDC/CWC for 10 years and other various jobs until her retirement in June of 2009. Barbara passed away Saturday morning, February 26, 2011 of cancer, her daughter Christine at her side at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato at the age of 63 years, 6 months, 25 days.
Barbara was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. She had a passion for reading, collecting angels, a fan of “Paula Dean', mom would always say “Paula always makes me so hungry watching her cook” and she laughed at those wacky “Golden Girls”, but most of all she loved to spend time with her two grandchildren Emma and Benny.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Christine and her husband Stephen Lell and two grandchildren Emma and Benny of Mankato; one brother, Rodney Kock of Eagle Lake; three sisters, Cheryl VanDeVere of Marshall, Diana Muetzel of Rochester, Pamela Sontag of Big Lake, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
