BERNICE LORENE JACOBSON was born on May 22, 1922 at home near Iroquois, South Dakota to Frank and Etta (Hatch) Martin. Bernice and her twin brother, Bernard "Pepper" were welcomed by their siblings, Myrtle, Mabel, Hazel, Orville and Dorothy. Bernice attended school in Iroquois, SD through her junior year in high school. The family moved to a farm near Luverne, Minnesota where Bernice graduated from high school in 1942.

Bernice was united in marriage to Donald "Don" Jacobson on September 2, 1944. Shortly thereafter Donald left to serve his country in WWII in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater. Their oldest daughter Donna, was born in June 1945. After the war, Donald and Bernice moved to the farm northwest of Pipestone, Minnesota. Soon after, daughters Peggy and Sharon followed. Bernice was active in the day-to-day life of the family farm, she also enjoyed sewing dresses for her girls. Don and Bernice enjoyed dancing. In 1976 they retired from farming; they also wintered near Harlingen, Texas and spent the remainder of the time in several places: Slayton, Minnesota, Pipestone, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Don passed away in 1983. Bernice continued to live in Sioux Falls. For nine years, she worked as a Senior Companion. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Sioux Falls. She continued to enjoy dancing at the VFW, where she and her lady friends would often spend time playing the slots, having a drink or coffee, and solving the world's problems.

While living in Sioux Falls, Bernice was a member of First Lutheran Church and recently joined First Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Bernice moved to Ridge View Estates in Pipestone in May of 2021 where she resided until October of 2022 at which time she became a resident of Good Samaritan in Pipestone.

Bernice celebrated her 100th birthday at the family farm as well as the Hiawatha Lodge in Pipestone in May, and enjoyed a family meal with many of her nieces, nephews and friends. Bernice enjoyed walking every day, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and enjoying her glass of Bailey's. Bernice passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband, Don; and two granddaughters, Christine Noble in 1971 and Rachael Trygstad in 2005.

She is lovingly remembered by daughters, Donna (Lyle) Noble of Spring, Texas, Peggy (Dennis) Agar of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Sharon Jacobson (David Trygstad) of Pipestone; grandchildren, Rebecca Jones (Mike), Sonia Binek, Angela Rubasch (Tony), Marc Agar (Lori), Michael Agar (Amy), Daniel Agar (Julie), Matthew Jacobson, and Naomi Jacobson Trygstad; great-grandchildren, Alissa, Ashley, Daniel, Matthew, Oliver, Violet, Henry, Zachary, Blake, Jonathan, Cayla, Nik, Jacob, and Waverly.

Memorials are preferred to Midwest Honor Flight or to the donor's charity of choice.
