BERNICE ROSE IRMTRAUT NELSON was born September 12, 2018 to Curtis and Becky Jo (Remme) Nelson at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was an active baby in the womb, keeping her Mommy up most nights and doing the happy dance when her Dad would put his hands on her Mom’s belly. Her family was so excited to welcome another little girl. Big siblings, Alyssa, Duane and Ezra, anxiously awaited her arrival. Bernice was born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia and underwent surgery upon her birth. Despite her short time on earth, it was evident that Bernice was a fighter and one strong little girl. She taught her family how to fight hard but still stay calm through the storm. She brought her whole family closer together through love for one another and the love of a little girl. She reminded them how important it is to care for one another on this earth. The love, hopes and dreams for Bernice will be carried by all those who loved her. On September 24, 2018, while at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, she went to be held in the arms of Jesus.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents and her siblings of St. James, Minnesota; grandparents, Idella Rye and Terry Hastings of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Scott and Kelly Nelson of Hutchinson, Minnesota and Nancy Nelson of St. James; great-grandmothers, Irmtraut Rye of Luverne and Marcia Nelson of Windom, Minnesota; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, Isak Rye, Duane Nelson and Duane Remme; and her great-grandmothers, Bernice Remme and Rose Feller.
A private family service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne.
