BETTY MOFFITT...
was born on November 8, 1922, in Jasper, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Jasper. She attended both grade school and high school in Jasper and graduated in 1941. While in Jasper she worked at Sack's Grocery Store and later as a clerk at Shriver's in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While employed at First National Bank in Pipestone, she met Donald Moffitt, a returning WWII Veteran. On October 6, 1946, they were united in marriage at the parsonage of the First Presbyterian Church of Holland, Minnesota. They lived in the same house in Holland for 64 years and raised three sons. Betty worked as a clerk at the Holland Post Office, sold Avon and was the village treasurer for a number of years. On July 29, 2010, she became a resident of Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone, where she died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 22 days.
Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holland. During her married years she was a member of the American Legion's Auxilary in Holland. She loved to cook and bake and in her spare time, enjoyed embroidery and hosting friends who came to play cards or socialize. Hosting the family on holidays was her specialty! Betty's love of music was also a big part of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald Moffitt of Pipestone, Minnesota; three sons, Ron (Cathy) Moffitt, Rodger Moffitt, and Steve (Sheryl) Moffitt, all of Pipestone, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Regina Simpson.
