BEULAH MAE GASS was born on August 13, 1920, to Henry and Rose (Halsne) Gass in Lake Wilson, Minnesota. She received her education and graduated from Lake Wilson High School. On February 20, 1940, Bea was united in marriage to Burdette Adkins in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple made their home in Pipestone, Minnesota and this union was blessed with two children, Ramona and Doug. Bea worked as a telephone operator for several years and then went to work as a librarian for Pipestone for sixteen years. Burdette preceded her in death on July 22, 1971. After his death, Bea remained at their home in Pipestone. On April 27, 1973, Bea married Raymond Litka in Flandreau, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in Belle Fourche, South Dakota for a short time before moving to Jasper, Minnesota in 1978. Ray preceded Bea in death on September 24, 2002. She remained living in their home until August 2016, when she moved to the Jasper Sunrise Village. On January 3, 2017, Bea moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she died peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the age of 96 years, nine months, and 24 days.
Bea was a member of the Jasper United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and loved her passion for books. She very much enjoyed her simple way of life.
Bea is lovingly remembered by her two children, Ramona (Douglas) Seeman of Jasper, Minnesota, and Douglas (Dorothy) Adkins of Fountain Hills, Arizona; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other family. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Burdette Adkins and Raymond Litka; parents, Henry and Rose Gass; a sister, Francis Sonnenschein; and two brothers, Kelly Gass and Ralph Gass.
