Beverly J. Schmuck

BEVERLY JENIEL SCHMUCK was born on January 14, 1928 to Kenneth and Lillian (Remme) Schuetts on the family farm north of Hardwick, Minnesota. She was raised in Hardwick and spent much of her childhood playing at her paternal grandparent’s farm. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1946. Following graduation she worked at JC Penny’s in Luverne. On August 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Schmuck at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. The couple made their home on the Schmuck family farm Northwest of Luverne. When LeRoy’s dad sold the farm the couple moved to his uncle’s farm Northwest of Pipestone. In 1957, the couple moved to Redwood Falls, Minnesota where Beverly kept busy as a homemaker to their children. In 1960, they returned to Luverne. In 1968, Beverly began working as a salesperson at Creeger’s clothing store in Luverne. On January 15, 1983, LeRoy passed away. Beverly continued to reside in Luverne. She retired from Creeger’s in January of 1990. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling to California, Arizona and Texas. On Sunday, November 18, 2012 Beverly died peacefully in her home at the age of 84 years, ten months and four days.

Beverly was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne, Minnesota where she served as deacon, taught Sunday School and Bible School, sang in the choir, and was a member of Circle. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing cards. She was part of the Pinochle marathon group. She especially loved being with her family and enjoyed socializing with friends.

She is lovingly remembered by her two children, David and his wife Bonnie of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, and Susan Lass and her husband George of Hardwick, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Aaron and his wife Bethany Lass, Jennifer (Mike) Lindsey, and Jason (Tara Hawley-Schmuck) Schmuck; three great-grandchildren, Trenton Lass, Brynlee Lass and James Lindsey; and three brothers, Daryle Schuetts and his wife Esther of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; David Schuetts and his wife Dianne of Sioux City, Iowa; and Jim Johannsen of Luverne. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; parents, Kenneth and Lillian; step-father, Clarence “Swede” Johannsen; her teenage sister, Ivalene; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Johannsen.
