Bonnie Ann Muller was born on July 24, 1963 in Luverne, Minnesota to Gerrit and Mary Ann (Akkerman) Van Aartsen. She was baptized and received her confirmation at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Growing up, Bonnie loved riding mini bike and horse with her siblings and the neighborhood kids. She had fond memories of vacations with her cousins at the lake. Her grades and music were especially important to her. She sang in the school and church choirs. She played trumpet and baritone in high school and later played in the Jasper Blowhards. During her school years she worked at JJ’s and Les’ Foodland. Bonnie graduated from Luverne High School in 1981 and Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1982. In August of 1982, she began her career at Citibank in Sioux Falls. On February 10, 1990, Bonnie was united in marriage to Randy Muller at Jasper Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. The couple would make their home on a farm near Jasper for the next 22 years before moving to Luverne. During Bonnie’s time with Citibank, she was promoted to senior business analyst. She was the lead for many major projects of Citibank and traveled often for work to New York, London, Singapore, India, and many other countries, working with many people all over the USA and the world. She received the Service Excellence Award several times, the Chairman Leadership Award, the President’s Award, and the Employee of the Month Award, to name a few of her achievements. She was known for her drive for perfection and strong work ethic in her job. On Friday, October 23, 2020, Bonnie died peacefully due to complication of lung cancer, surrounded by her family at Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 57 years, 2 months, and 29 days.

Bonnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, was in the choir, and sang duets with Ed Dock. She also sang at the nursing home in Jasper many times. Bonnie was a volunteer for the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, and led financial management classes for kids. She loved spending time and vacationing with family and friends. She enjoyed her annual trip with girlfriends and traveling to Texas and Florida with Randy. She was always known to her siblings as “Bon”. Most important to her and the love of her life was her husband Randy and her three boys. She loved to hear their stories and they loved to tease their mom and get her going. She enjoyed hearing each night what Randy was busy doing on the farm. She enjoyed going to watch her kids’ sporting events, especially track. She loved that her boys were in band and choir. She was a special “mom” to many of her boy’s friends. She loved attending sporting events and spending time with Ronnie and Elaine. Saturday morning coffee at her mom’s was always a special event.
