Brian Venekamp was born October 23, 1956 to Wilbur Venekamp and Berniece (Petersen) Venekamp Johannsen in Glendive, Montana. In 1959, the family moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota. Brian was baptized at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and attended school in Lake Benton. Brian lived in various parts of the country and in his earlier years had returned to Minnesota and recently made his home in Revere, Minnesota. On March 14, 2011, he died at his home in Revere at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 19 days.
While growing up, Brian was a member of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. He loved to tinker and explore how things worked. Brian had many challenges throughout his life, yet he maintained a love and connection with his family.
Brian is survived by his mother, Berniece Johannsen of Lake Benton, Minnesota; siblings, Doug (and Carolyn) Venekamp of Verdi, Minnesota, Mike (and Cynthia) Venekamp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Patricia (and Joe) Harris of Silver City, New Mexico, Karen Venekamp (and Danny Anderson) of Kittridge, Colorado, and Kevin (and Leslie) Venekamp of Boynton Beach, Florida; two daughters, Laura, Sara; and three grandchildren; many nieces, nephews , family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Venekamp; infant sister, Donna Marie; maternal grandparents, Knute and Carrie Petersen; paternal grandparents, Herman and Henrietta Venekamp.
