BURDELL PAUL ENNINGA was born to George and Grace (Smeins) Enninga in Adrian, Minnesota. He was raised in the Adrian and Ellsworth, Minnesota areas and later graduated from Adrian High School. Following his education he enlisted into the United States Army National Guard. In May 1964, Burdell was united in marriage to Jan West at the Methodist Church in Luverne, Minnesota. In 1970 the couple moved to Nebraska where Burdell managed an agricultural chemical plant. Jan and Burdell later divorced and in 1987 Burdell returned to the Luverne area. He then took a job at Fey Industries in Edgerton, Minnesota and worked himself into the position of production manager. Burdell dedicated himself to this company for over 20 years. In 1996 he moved to Lake Shetek near Slayton, Minnesota and built himself a home. Burdell officially retired in 2005. On Sunday, July 31, 2016 Burdell died peacefully at Our House Hospice of Murray County in Slayton at the age of 76 years, one month and 15 days.
Burdell enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking pies for friend and neighbors. He could always be found working on a project on his lake home. He loved his home at Lake Shetek and the family and friends he made there. He was known to many as “such a nice man.” He was proud to be a Grandpa and Great-Grandpa and enjoyed being known as “Gramps” to the little ones.
Burdell is lovingly remembered by his two children, Darci (Dwayne) Morgan of Nickerson, Nebraska, and Jason (Lisa) Enninga of Alexandria, Minnesota; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three siblings, Shirley (Harold) Frey of Luverne, Verlyn (Ruby) Enninga of Luverne, and Dennis Enninga of Denver, Colorado; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace; and three siblings, Glee Larae Enninga, Alvin Enninga and Morris Enninga.
