Carlton Elwood Holmquist was born August 9, 1940 in Tyler, Minnesota to Chester and Victoria (Christensen) Holmquist. While growing up he attended Tyler Public Schools and graduated in 1958. After high school he worked at various jobs until starting his career at Schwan's in 1961, in sales. When the Schwan's beverage processing and packaging plant was purchased in 1965, Carl became the plant manager and continued in that position until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement, Carl helped Harlan Petersen with farm operations until 2008, when he then entered the next phase of his retirement.
Carl enjoyed meeting his friends for morning coffee and mystery trips. His interests included going to car shows, attending the Oshkosh Wisconsin air show, collecting corvette models, music, reading and spending time with family and friends. He was always a great supporter of the local community and Lincoln County.
He moved from the family farm into Tyler. In 2015 he moved from his house in town into Danebod Village. In 2020 he moved to Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone, Minnesota where he resided until his death. Carl passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, at the age of 84 years, seven months and nine days.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Victoria Holmquist. He is survived by his brother, Curt (Patricia) of Agency, Missouri; his niece, Michelle (John) of Suffolk, Virginia; his nephew Eric (Theresa); and great-nephews, Trevor and Colton of Rapid City, South Dakota.
