CAROLYN JEAN HICKS LEWIS, age 57, was born June 6, 1963 to become the cherished daughter of Steve and Mary Lou (Perry) Hicks. Carolyn passed away at the Pipestone County Hospice House on November 7, 2020 after a short illness.
Carolyn was a ray of sunshine, a joy to have around, had a great sense of humor and could see the positive side of any situation. She was fun, with a quick wit, caring, intelligent, and loyal to family and friends. She loved her two brothers, Perry and Steve, Jr. and from early on looked out for them. Carolyn especially enjoyed coming back to her home town of Pipestone, reconnecting with family and old friends. Carolyn was an excellent student and enjoyed many extracurricular activities – speech, drama, school paper, and won the State American Legion Speech Contest while in High School. Carolyn graduated from University of Minnesota in Mass Communications, and received her Masters Degree from St. Thomas. Through the years, Carolyn worked for many companies in the Twin Cities, mostly in Data Governance – Xcel Energy, Target, United Health and currently Prime Therapeutics. She served as president of DAMA, an association for Data Resource Management. Carolyn enjoyed showing “Bichon Frise” dogs and lived in the country by Rockford, MN for about 20 years with them in mind. Recently, Carolyn purchased a townhome to downsize and was looking forward to more time for new projects and activities. She will be greatly missed by her mom and brother and other family members and friends.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Hicks of Pipestone; brother, Steve (Valerie) Hicks of Volga, SD; Alee Hicks, widow of Perry and nephew, Sam Hicks, both of Buffalo, MN; her aunt, Ruth Perry of Canton, Ohio and many special cousins. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Hicks; her brother, Perry; aunts and uncles; George and Donna Hicks, Ed and Phyl Williams, Elisabeth Barker "Aunty Bob", Don and Mary Morton, and Harry (Kyran) Perry “Uncle K”.
