CATHERINE UNTIEDT DIBBERN, was born on June 1, 1923 to William and Margaret (Schommer) Bofenkamp in Ellsworth, Minnesota. She was raised in town and graduated from Ellsworth High School. Following school, she moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and began working at Fantles Department Store. She then met Wayne Untiedt and on June 5, 1946 the couple was united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellsworth. The couple moved to Luverne where they made their home. Catherine began working as a cook in the elementary school while also being a homemaker to their two daughters. Wayne preceded her in death on April 7, 1979. Catherine continued to live at their home and often traveled to their cabin on Lake Sarah. Catherine later met Harvey Dibbern and on November 30, 1991, the couple was united in marriage at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Luverne. Harvey preceded her in death on March 29, 1994. Catherine continued to reside at their home until she suffered a stroke in 2005. At this time she moved to her daughter's home in Crystal, Minnesota. In March 2008, Catherine became a resident at the Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, where on Monday, August 12, 2013, she died peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 90 years, two months and 11 days.
Catherine was a member of St. Catherine's Church in Luverne and the VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing Bingo, and having an occasional Manhattan. She also enjoyed traveling, including trips to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Loree and her husband Jack Davis of Richmond, Minnesota, and Janice and her husband Mike Christensen of Crystal, Minnesota; one brother, Leo and his wife Roberta Bofenkamp of Worthington, Minnesota; five sisters, Mildred Schweight of Napa, California, Margaret and her husband Toby Anderson of Luverne, Mary Ann and her husband Floyd Olson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Evelyn Walker of Grand Island, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Jill, Carrie, Chad, Craig, and Cara; nine great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wayne and Harvey; parents, William and Margaret; two brothers, Father Andrew Bofenkamp and John Bofenkamp; and two sisters, Madeline Swanson and Lorraine Zuraff.
