CATHRYN J. HOECK was born on February 26, 1927 to Leonard and Clara (Erickson) Wright at Lake Norden, South Dakota. She was baptized in May 1927 at Garfield Lutheran Church in Bryant, South Dakota and received her confirmation at American Lutheran Church in Bryant on May 31, 1942. Cathryn was raised in Bryant and graduated high school in 1944. She then furthered her education at Dickenson Business School in 1945. Following her education, Cathryn became employed as a secretary for Northwestern National Life Insurance and later Crane Company in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On August 28, 1949, Cathryn was united in marriage to Victor Hoeck at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. After their marriage the couple began farming in rural Hardwick, Minnesota and made their home in the acreage. In August of 2010, Cathryn became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, where on Thursday, April 19, 2018 she passed away under hospice care at the age of 91 years, one month and 23 days.
Cathryn was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, where she had taught Sunday School for 25 years and held other offices in the church. During her life, she was active in the community and enjoyed helping others.
Cathryn is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Vicki Daggett (Scott) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Shea) Reiners of Sioux Falls, and Staci Daggett (Reid Benincasa) of Denver, Colorado; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor on March 29, 2011; a sister, Donva Guiana of Sioux Falls; a brother, John Wright of Aurora, South Dakota and her parents.
