Cecelia Elizabeth “Ceil” Dubbeldee was born to Herman and Clara (Ruppert) Kohler on December 30, 1917 in Tyler, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm in Marshfield Township near Tyler, and attended country school in District 24 through the eighth grade. Upon completion of her education, she helped on the family farm. On February 2, 1937 Ceil was united in marriage to Edward Dubbeldee at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Marian, and 48 years of life together. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Arco, Minnesota. In 1975 they retired from farming and moved into Lake Benton, Minnesota. On July 12, 1985 Edward preceded Ceil in death. After his death, she continued to live in Lake Benton until 2002 when she moved to Danebod Village in Tyler. On Saturday, June 11, 2016 Ceil passed away at Avera Tyler Hospital at the age of 98 years, five months, and 12 days.
Ceil was a member of St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler where she was baptized and confirmed. She was active in the life of her church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, quilting, and dancing. After her husband died, she became special friends with Louis Lahey, and they enjoyed going to area dances.
Ceil is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Marian Kerr of Tyler; three grandchildren, Kevin (Shannon) Farasyn, Kimberly Stewart (significant other, Eric Larsen), and Kurt (Tonya) Farasyn; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Alice) Kohler of Tyler; a sister, Betty Schmidt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; one brother, Ervin Kohler; four sisters, Thelma Dye, Margaret Skong, Leona Prosch, and Ellen Abraham; and her special friend, Louis Lahey, who died in 2009.
