Charles "Chuck" Kerr

CHARLES "CHUCK" ALLEN KERR was born on October 29, 1958 to Duncan and Janice (Seelen) Kerr in Silver Bay, MN. He grew up in Babbitt, MN playing hockey, exploring the woods, camping, and expanding his outdoor survival skills. He traveled frequently with his parents on camping trips around the country to state and national parks. He loved fishing, boating, and the outdoors.

He went to Babbitt Highschool where he met Sue Leino and they married in 1976. He also joined the military in 1976 and served in the United States Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska, until 1979. Charles and Sue moved back to the Iron Range and divorced in 1985.

He later moved to St. Cloud, MN and worked as a subcontractor for various local cable companies upgrading existing coax cable to fiber-optic. He also worked for a short time as a tower hand for Tim's Tower Service out of Sartell, MN, where he fixed tower antennas, changed light bulbs on towers, and did general maintenance and repairs on towers.

Charles met Rebecca Hyk in 1993 in St. Cloud, MN and they lived in Avon, MN, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Foley, MN, and they settled down and married in New London, MN on October 9, 1999. They moved to Tyler, MN in 2005.

Charles loved riding motorcycles. He was very mechanical and enjoyed working on vehicles. He continued his love of camping, boating, and fishing throughout his adulthood. He enjoyed making items out of diamond willow and making crafts.

Charles was loving and kind. He made everyone he met smile. He had a great sense of humor and was frequently joking and teasing others. He was always bright and happy. Charles was a great listener and was someone anyone could go to for anything. He was always surrounded by friends and family and would do anything he could to help others. He always put others first and his love knew no bounds.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Duncan Kerr and Janice (Seelen) Kerr; and his brother, Christopher Kerr.

Charles is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Hyk) Kerr of Hibbing, MN; his children, Tony (Jackie Wynkoop Kerr) Kerr of Bemidji, MN , Faith (George) Kommu of Florida, Hope (Benjamin) Lee of Texas, Cody Kerr of St. Cloud, Dustin (Elizabeth Izwips) Kerr of Sioux City, Iowa, Susanna Kerr of Pipestone, MN, and Skyler (Rose Contreras) Kerr of Pipestone, MN. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Trinity, Orin, Olivia, Kaleb, and Aalaiyah Kerr.
