Charles “Chuck” Michael Swanson was born January 18, 1978 to Clarence and Arlys (Krebs) Swanson in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Island Lake Township. He grew up on the family farm near Lynd, Minnesota. Chuck attended grade school in Lynd and graduated from Marshall High School in 1996. He then attended Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Canby, Minnesota for Diesel Mechanics. In 1997 he took over the family farm sowing and harvesting the land with the guidance and support of his friends and neighbors. He married his high school sweetheart, Melissa Carr, on September 23, 2000 at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with four beautiful daughters (his '4 hot blondes”, as he called them) and 20 years of making memories together. The couple spent many miles on the road in the semi, working side by side together farming, and raising their family. On Monday, May 9, 2016 Chuck died unexpectedly at his home at the young age of 38.
Chuck was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Marshall and First English Lutheran Church in Tyler. His heaven on earth was his wife, his four girls, and his farm. He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and neighbor. His friends became family in many ways as they were always a great support system for him throughout his life. He loved helping people and was always quick to drop what he was doing and lend a helping hand. Chuck spent his evenings riding four wheeler, checking fields with his girls on the Ranger, or taking them for jet ski rides at the lake. He loved listening to the oldies, spending time in his shop, and enjoying a cold beverage with his friends and neighbors. There was rarely a day that didn’t start or end with a bowlful of cake and ice cream eaten with a spoon.
Chuck will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife and best friend, Melissa; his daughters, Casey Ann, Camry Marie, Arlee Carole, and Avery Melissa Swanson; uncles, Roger (Debbie) Krebs of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, and Philip (Susan) Swanson of Marshall; and many other family members, neighbors, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Arlys Swanson; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mae (Walkup) Swanson, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Gust and Viola (Jahnke) Krebs.
Blessed be his memory.
