October 20, 1949 — April 6, 2011

CHARLES WEBER was born on October 20, 1949 to William and Esther (Kitchenmaster) Weber at Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota. He was baptized on November 6, 1949 and confirmed June 2, 1963, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. He was raised on the family farm, located southwest of town. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1967. Following school, he continued to work on the farm and enlisted in the National Guard from 1968 until 1974. He married Shirley Oeding on November 28, 1970 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. The couple made their home in Luverne and in October of 1980 they moved out to the family farm. Charles farmed all his life and also spent time working at Hills Implement, Terrace Park Dairy, Busse Plumbing and Heating, and McClure Plumbing and Heating. On April 6, 2011 Charles died at his home as a result of an accident at the age of 61 years, 5 months and 16 days.

Charles was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne where he was active in Men’s Club, served as an usher and was on the Board of Trustees. He also participated in church sponsored softball and dartball. Charles loved to garden. He enjoyed growing vegetables and canning and worked hard at perfecting salsas for each of his children’s tastes. He also enjoyed smoking meats, fishing, palling around with his dog, Butch, and driving through the countryside to visit with friends.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley of rural Luverne; children, Beverly Weber and Gonzalo Serrano of Boulder, CO, Rebecca Weber and Clint Eichstadt of Sioux Falls, SD, Lynette Preiner and her husband Richard of Bloomington, MN, and Brian Weber and Sara Newlon of Luverne; his mother, Esther Weber of Luverne; brother, William V. Weber and his wife Barbara of Luverne; brother-in-laws, Waldo Oeding and his wife Jane and Eugene Oeding and his wife Beverly, all of Luverne; six nieces; three nephews; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant child; his father, William C. Weber; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Larine Oeding.
