Christine A. Ten Cate

Christine Ann Ten Cate was born on January 15, 1947 to Robert and Evelyn (Richardson) Perry in Creston, Iowa. In her early years, Chris attended Creston High School, graduating in 1965. Upon graduating high school, Chris furthered her education by studying accounting at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Chris quickly put her accounting knowledge to use when she began working as an Associates Finance secretary in Atlantic, Iowa from 1972 to 1977. It was during this time that she met Russell Ten Cate. The couple fell in love and were united in marriage on May 26, 1979. They then moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Chris was the accounting manager for Hudson Foods from 1977 to 1995.

Chris worked as the telemarketing manager at Hamilton Communications in Aurora, Nebraska from 1995 to 1999, she then went to work as the accounting manager at Regal Awards & Advertising Specialties until 2017. Chris retired in 2017 after her many years of dedicated work. Chris and Russ moved to Phoenix, Arizona from 2019 to 2021 but quickly decided that the heat just wasn't for them. They moved back to Omaha in 2021 and settled in for the long haul. Chris and Russ loved to travel, making many trips and even more memories together while traveling all across the US, from Colorado to Arkansas and even Hawaii. Traveling had been a family love, as when their kids were younger, the family went on many trips together.

Along with a love of traveling, Chris loved to read. She could always be found with a book or kindle in her hand and she was always prepared to read at any event - even at NASCAR races! This love for reading was passed onto her daughters, Alanna and Alison. Chris will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kindness towards others and her commitment to her work. She poured her heart and soul into every task she did, whether it was her job, cleaning the house, or diving into her next Tom Clancy book. Chris made a deep impact on everyone who had the privilege to know her. Her memory will live on throughout the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chris will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Russ Ten Cate; children, Robert (Tena) Perry of Bellevue, Nebraska, Brian Ten Cate of McKinney, Texas, Alison (Tom) Ver Steeg of Luverne, Minnesota, Alanna (Jeff) Van Santen of Luverne; grandchildren, Sean Perry, Cade Ver Steeg, Lauren Ver Steeg, Kelsi Van Dyken, Aiden Van Santen, Michael Perry; great-grandchildren, Ramona Perry and Myles Perry; and siblings, Debbie (Jeff) Fenn of Omaha, Nebraska, Robin Whitman of Omaha, and Larry (Cindy) Larson of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Larson.

Blessed be her memory.

Memorials can be directed to the Nebraska Alzheimer's Association.
