Clara Wiese

CLARA WIESE was born to Detlef and Rosa (Wilstermann) Marquardsen on February 15, 1916 in Fountain Prairie Township in Lincoln County near Lake Benton, Minnesota where she was raised and attended country school. Upon completion of her education, she helped out at home. On March 30, 1932, she was united in marriage to Leonard Wiese in Holland, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm north of Holland for a short time before moving to Ruthton, Minnesota where they lived for 60 years. In June, 1995, they moved to the Storybrook Apartments in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 1, 2002. In February, 2006, she became a resident at Ashton Care Center in Pipestone. Then, in July, 2010, she moved to Falls Landing Assisted Living in Pipestone until March 2, 2011 when she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She died there on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the age of 95 years, nine months and five days.

Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ruthton, Minnesota where she was active in Ladies Aid and circles. She enjoyed embroidery and making quilts. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Juanita “Nita” Sudenga of Pipestone, Minnesota; her son, Dennis and his wife Michelle Wiese of Baudette, Minnesota; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Jeanine; one granddaughter, Debra Sudenga; one grandson, Daniel Sudenga; her son-in-law, Robert Sudenga; her parents; four brothers, Henry Marquardsen, Otto Marquardsen, Carl Marquardsen, and Hans Marquardsen and two sisters, Ella Landsem and Emma Jackson.
