Connie Kortleever

CONNIE KORTLEEVER...

was born to Garland and Lila (Hanson) Johnson on March 6, 1938 in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Pipestone. On December 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Merlyn Kortleever. Following their marriage, they resided on a farm near Edgerton, Minnesota. To this marriage, two children were born. Connie worked on the family farm until Merlyn’s death in 1986. After his death, she worked various jobs including the Calumet Hotel and Hiawatha Manor, later retiring due to health issues. On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Connie entered the Pipestone County Hospice House and went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the age of 77 years, three months and seven days.

Connie was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting on the phone, playing cards and games. She was a loving grandmother. Her grandchildren always held a special place in her heart.

She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Michael (Wanda) Kortleever of Edgerton, Minnesota and Michele (Joe) Skala of Owatonna, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Teresa (Tracy) Deadman, Kyle (Kim) Kortleever, Staci (Tyler) Selbrade, Eric (Darcie) Sudenga, Matthew Kloeckner; 12 great-grandchildren, Mason, Brodie and Kendra Ford, James, Kylee and Kaci Sudenga, Elias Selbrade, John (Meagan) and Juna Julian, Kodi, Kyle and Cheyanne Deadman; three sisters, Nancy Dockum of Santa Barbara, California, Linda (Chuck) Diederich of Pennock, Minnesota and Marcia Burtts of Brookings, South Dakota; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson of Maiden, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn; two infant children; her parents; two brothers, James Johnson and Dallas Johnson; one sister, Bette Bach; and her special friend, Denny Price.
