CORNELIUS KLUMPER...
was born on April 17, 1934 to Dick and Gertie (Jongetjes) Klumper on the family farm in Leota Township, Nobles County, Minnesota. He attended Edgerton Christian School through the 8th grade then Edgerton Public High School graduating in 1952. He began working with a rendering company SW of Edgerton, Minnesota. On June 27, 1954, Cornelius was united in marriage to Katherine Hildebrandt at the Baptist Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Their first home was west of Pipestone when Cornelius went to school in Brookings, South Dakota for Singer Sewing Machines; which he sold for a short time, later working as a farmhand. They moved the family to Edgerton and Cornelius worked for Peavy Lumberyard. They then moved back to Pipestone and he went to work for Pipestone Marine in the fiberglass department until the plant closed. The family then moved to Trosky, Minnesota where they settled for the next 53 years, raising seven children. Cornelius also worked a short time at Peavy Elevator before he began at Bayliner Marine in the lamination department. He worked at Bayliner until his retirement in 1998. Not quite ready to slow down, he took a part-time job carrying groceries at Hank’s Foods for a year. In July of 2015, Cornelius entered the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone where he resided until his death on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the age of 81 years, eight months and three days.
He was a member of the Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. Cornelius loved being outdoors, especially fishing, boating and camping. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Cornelius will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Katherine Klumper of Trosky, Minnesota; his children, Jeffery (Theresa) Klumper, Timothy Klumper, Thomas (Cynthia) Klumper, Ronold (Jill) Klumper, all of Trosky, Clayton (Valerie) Klumper of Pipestone, Minnesota, Sandra (Eugene) Schulte of Aurora, South Dakota and Leland Klumper of Mankato, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lambert (Henrietta) Klumper and Henry Klumper all of Edgerton and Andrew (Wilhelmina) Klumper of Artesia, California; one sister, Elizabeth Van Keppel of Dumont, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Lois Jean Klumper of Edgerton and Ellen Klumper of Berryville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Hartke; two brothers, Gerrit and Bernard; an infant sister; and a granddaughter, Heather Klumper.
