Cynthia Kay DeRycke was born to Vernon and Clarene (VanderBush) Hubers on March 13, 1964 in Pipestone, Minnesota where she was raised and received her education. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1982, she resided in Shakopee, MN, Sioux Falls, SD, and many other places before returning to Pipestone.On September 12, 1998, Cindy was united in marriage to Mark DeRycke in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they resided in Pipestone, until their separation in 2015. After 11 years with Midwest Copier Solutions in Sioux Falls, she began working for Southwest Health and Human Services in accounting. On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, she passed away at her home in Pipestone at the age of 54 years, one month and 18 days.
Cindy was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone where she taught Sunday School. She was very involved with the community, which included taking tickets for Civil War Days, Calumet Players, helping direct Children’s Theater, Relay for Life and Pipestone Motorcycle Club. Cindy enjoyed gardening, bowling with her traveling league team, and helping her daughter, Taya, at Bole-Mor Lanes. She also enjoyed dog-sitting for her favorite neighbor pups, Max and Gabby. She will be remembered for her love of penguins and attending rummage sales. She had a great sense of humor and energetic personality that made her the life of any party and seemed to always draw everybody in to her.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Taya DeRycke (boyfriend, Kyle Viland) of Pipestone; parents, Vernon and Clarene Hubers of Pipestone; two brothers, James “Jim” Hubers (Rhonda) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Verlyn Hubers of Marshall, Minnesota; her boyfriend, Kyle Bloomquist and his daughter, Kaitlin (Trevor) Wiederhoeft and her daughters, Summar and Scarlett; ex-husband, Mark DeRycke; nieces Erica DeRycke of Brookings, South Dakota, and Melissa DeRycke of Rochester, Minnesota; her special friend of 40 years, Janet Spronk; cousin, Amy Carstensen, as well as multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Henrietta (VanderBush) Kalas; uncle, Jack Krosschell; special friend, Lynnette Hawkins; boyfriend’s son, Konner Bloomquist, who passed away on May 2, 2018; two cousins, Linda Berghorst and Larry Kalas, Jr; and former in-laws, Madeleine and Cyriel DeRycke.
