Dale Joseph Facile was born on July 16, 1936, to Frank and Sylvia Facile at the doctor’s home in Jasper, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He grew up on a farm two miles north of Jasper with his parents, two older brothers, and one younger brother. They raised dairy cows and broke and raced horses. They attended many horse shows and trail rides. In high school, he enjoyed participating in school plays and played baseball. After graduating from Jasper High School in 1954, Dale moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where he attended Minnesota School of Business, earning his Associate’s Degree of Business. In 1956, he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to work as an Assistant Credit Manager for Firestone. On November 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Rosalee Heinemann at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Garretson, South Dakota. In 1961, they purchased a three-acre hobby farm in Jasper and lived there until 2022. He worked for Production Credit Association and then at the Jasper State Bank until his retirement. In 2022, he and Rosalee moved to Brandon, South Dakota and then to Sioux Falls in the summer of 2024. Dale passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Dougherty Hospice House at the age of 88.
Dale was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the sexton of the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery for many years. He was also the treasurer of the Jasper Historical Society. Dale loved to go camping, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed umpiring and wood carving. He was a social person who could make friends with anyone. He loved to tell stories. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a family man through and through.
Dale is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rosalee “Tootie” Facile of Sioux Falls; children, Brenda (David) Westland of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Kathy (Dale) Julius of Ellsworth, Minnesota, Bradley (Valerie) Facile of Slayton, Minnesota, Bruce (Lauri) Facile of Webster, Minnesota, Kurt (Barb) Facile of Sioux Falls, and Barry (Tiffany) Facile of Sioux Falls; eleven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Susan) Facile of Boerne, Texas; and many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian; and two brothers, Ardell and Robert Facile.
