DANIEL 'DANNY' WAYNE KVAAS was born May 29, 1956 to Ralph and Eleanor (Remme) Kvaas in Luverne, Minnesota. He was raised in the small town of Magnolia, Minnesota. This small town upbringing was instrumental in creating a good foundation of his character. In 1966, he and his family moved to a farm near Kenneth, Minnesota. Danny was a fierce competitor in athletics and enjoyed playing football and basketball. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 1974. He then furthered his education at St. Could Technical School in St. Cloud, Minnesota, graduating in 1976. Following his schooling he worked for a short time in insurance sales. He discovered that a sales job was not for him as he did not like pressuring someone to buy something that they did not want; thus, strengthening his character. In 1978, Danny ventured to Hailey, Idaho, where he then began his carpentry career in the Salmon River Valley. Danny’s compassion and concern for people would bring him home back to Luverne in 1989. During his life he cared for his aging parents, aunts, an uncle and a close family friend. He continued carpentry business while living on a farm near Luverne. Danny moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1991 and continued to own and operate his carpentry business. On Wednesday, April 13, 2016 Danny died unexpectedly at his home at the age of 59 years.
Danny was baptized and confirmed at Blue Mound Lutheran Church near Luverne. He enjoyed Minnesota, Alaska and Canadian fishing and hunting. He loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and especially enjoyed road trips to Idaho. He also enjoyed extended winter stays in Florida and Arizona. At his home on Fremont Avenue, Danny was often seen leading debates with the local alley cats. Danny shared his whole self with any and everybody. He could be a brother figure, father figure and was always a true friend. His humor was quick, unique and clever. Though shortened, Danny loved his relationships with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
Danny is lovingly remembered by his four siblings, Diane (Donald) Wagner of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Donna Hill of St. Michael, Minnesota, David (Elaine) of St. Cloud, and Dennis (Jenny) of Elk River, Minnesota; ten nieces and nephews, Michael (Debbie Duffy) Fredrichs, Alan (Tabitha) Fredrichs, Nicole (Michael Skinner) Fredrichs, Troy (Jennifer) Fredrichs, Andrea (Mark) Kiffmeyer, Amber (Josh) Pogatshnik, Tricia (Scott Ludwig) Wagner, Haley Kvaas, Korbin (Ryan Beers) Kvaas, and Kyle Kvaas; three great-nieces and eleven great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Eleanor Kvaas.
