Darla G. Green

Darla Gail Green was born on May 10, 1956 to William and Anna (Dreesen) Green in Luverne, Minnesota where she was raised. She attended Crippled Children’s School in Worthington, Minnesota (which later became Lakeview School) and graduated from Luverne High School in 1975. Darla moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and two years later moved back to Luverne. She was a greeter at the Hinkley House, and called bingo and sold pull tabs at Luverne American Legion and Luverne Eagles Club. Darla began to “live with cancer” in 2006. She recently had entered the care of the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage on Christmas Eve of 2015. She died there on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2015 at the age of 59 years.

Darla enjoyed smoking her cigarettes and drinking coffee. She also enjoyed talking on the CB, taking rides, and trucking. Darla loved to gamble, play poker, and slots with her family, brothers, and father. She never played cards unless she could play for money. Later in life in 2011, Darla learned how to drive. It was a newfound freedom for her.

Darla is remembered by her siblings, Verne (Janet) Green of Gregory, SD, Roger (Marti) Green of Owatonna, MN, Elnora Hemesath (and friend Duane Eink) of Ossian, IA, Wayne Green of Luverne, Jerald (Evelyn) Green of Adrian, MN, Bernard (Beth) Green of Bemidji, MN, Orvin Green of Adrian, MN, Charlotte (Daryl) Dammer of Rushmore, MN, Denise Sprecher of Luverne, Reva Green of Luverne, Roxanne Green (and friend Terry Reisdorfer of Adrian, MN) of Luverne; special uncle and aunts, Orville (Karen) Dreesen of Ellsworth, MN, Aleida Meyerhoff of Sioux Falls, SD and Dolores Dreesen of Luverne; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and nieces, Deanna Green (1997) and Jennifer Green (1979).
