Darlene Marie Taubert…
was born to Milton and Lucille (Appeldorn) Edgecomb on January 19, 1932 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised and received her education in Pipestone. While in high school, she was employed at the movie theater. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1949, she continued working at the movie theater. On August 27, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dale Taubert at the Presbyterian Church in Holland, Minnesota. To this union, two children were born. They made their home in Holland for a short while before moving to Pipestone. In 1960, they moved to Mapleton, Minnesota where they lived for two years before moving to Mankato, Minnesota. In 1971, they moved back to Pipestone. In 1980, Darlene became employed at the Pipestone County Medical Center where she worked in laundry. She later became employed as a custodian at the high school for many years before retiring. Dale preceded her in death on May 25, 2016. Following his death, she became a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. She died there on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the age of 84 years, ten months and one day.
Darlene was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone where she was active in church circle in her earlier years. She was also a member of the Pipestone American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout her life, she enjoyed watching movies and also spending time at the casino. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially the annual vacation trips to Ottertail Lake.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lynn (John) Zick of Montecito, California and Matt (Peggy) Taubert of Pipestone, Minnesota; grandchildren, Sean (Amanda) Zick of Chicago, Illinois, Ryan (Raquel) Zick of Carpinteria, California, Colin (Nicole Patterson) Taubert of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, and Abbey Taubert of Pipestone; great-grandchildren, Connor Zick and Maddie Taubert; and one brother, Chuck Edgecomb of Pipestone. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents; and one sister, Donna Steinmeyer.
