DAVID BRUCE CARSTENSEN was born to Lee and Frieda (Bauman) Carstensen on January 1, 1943 in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following the death of his father when he was three years old, he continued to live on the family farm in Troy Township. He attended school and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1961. He attended college and received a bachelor’s degree in business, along with serving in the National Guard in South Dakota.
He started his career in banking in Cleveland, Ohio. Two years later, he moved to Minneapolis and began working at the Columbia Heights State Bank, completing his career at Blaine Bank in 2010. He spent many years coaching Little League Hockey, but his real love was golf. Following retirement, he spent several days a week from April to October on the course, including several trips south for golf in the winter.
David is survived by his sister, Dorothy Schildts of Forest Lakes, Arizona; his brother, Jack (Carol) Carstensen of Pipestone; nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Frieda; a brother James Carstensen; and a sister, Marjorie Carstensen.
