David Neal Skogen was born September 7, 1953 to Vernal and Harriet (Boettcher) Skogen in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He was baptized on September 27, 1953 at Dell Lutheran Church near Frost, Minnesota and later confirmed in 1969 at Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan, Minnesota. He grew up on the farm near Delavan and graduated from Delavan High School in 1972, after which he attended Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute, earning a degree as a machinist. He worked at Carlson Companies in Mankato, Minnesota and was part owner of Blue Earth Kawasaki in Blue Earth before moving to the Arco, Minnesota area to farm with his father in 1981. In 1987 his brother, Gordy, joined David in farming. On June 29, 2015 David passed away following a decline in health at his home in Arco at the age of 61.
David was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Delavan. He enjoyed motorcycles, farming, and time spent with friends.
David is lovingly remembered by his mother, Harriet Skogen of Easton, Minnesota; his siblings, Laura Skogen of Rochester, Minnesota, Glen (Diana) Skogen of Delavan, Minnesota, Jim (Diane) Skogen of Blue Earth, Minnesota, and Gordy (Diana) Skogen of Tyler, Minnesota; his nephews, Scott Skogen of Winnebago, Minnesota, and Jamie (Annetta) Skogen of Mankato, Minnesota; great nieces Lexi, Sierra, and Emily Skogen; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernal, and his grandparents, Nordahl and Ida Skogen, and John and Mabel Boettcher.
