DAVID ERNEST THEEL was born to Doug and Diane (Hart) Theel on November 27, 1968 in Fontana, California. He was baptized in North Long Beach, California at a Presbyterian Church. When he was five years old, he moved with his family to Pipestone, Minnesota where he received his education. He was confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone. As a teen, David traveled with the church on two mission trips, to Colorado to paint a church and to Arkansas. Upon completion of his education, he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where he worked at the Dallas Johnson Greenhouse for 15 years. In 1997, he was united in marriage to Debra Bauer in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union two children were born, Devin in 1997 in Kingman, Arizona and Diana in 2001 in Pipestone, Minnesota. In 2000, they moved back to Pipestone where he began working as a Foreman at Twin City Fan in Elkton, South Dakota until October of 2012, when he was forced to resign due to health problems. David died on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone; he lived to the age of 44 years.
As a child, David enjoyed spending time boxing. He was always taking things apart and putting them back together. He spent many hours working on cars and building ramps for Devin's BMX bike and keeping busy with Diana, whether it be spending time at the park or bringing her to Girl Scouts or Awana. Most importantly, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his children.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Devin Theel and Diana Theel, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his father, Doug Theel of Pipestone, Minnesota; two siblings, Jim (Kristie) Theel and Amy (Herman) Schroer, both of Pipestone; his grandmother, Mary Hart of Ojai, California; his special friend, Pam Winter and her daughter, Sam of Pipestone; two nieces, Madorie Dolezal of Sioux Falls and Jamie Theel of Pipestone; two nephews, Derek Blom and Byron Schroer, both of Pipestone; and many cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Theel; paternal grandparents, Ernie and Boots Theel; and maternal grandpa, Dave Hart.
