DEAN GREGORY ARP was born on August 11, 1964 to Myron and Lois (Matthiesen) Arp in Luverne, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota. Throughout his childhood, he lived with his family on a farm west of Edgerton, Minnesota. He attended Edgerton Public School, graduating from high school in 1983. In 1984, he was united in marriage to Dawn Ruiter in Leota, Minnesota. To this union two children were born. Several years later he moved to Trosky, Minnesota and was united in marriage to Jodi Jandl. For 15 years he worked for Bayliner in Pipestone. In the mid-90s, he moved to the Pipestone, Minnesota area. During this time, he worked for SKD Construction. On December 25, 2014, Dean passed away at his home in Pipestone at the age of 50 years, four months, and 14 days.
Dean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Trosky. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and fishing.
Dean is survived by his three children, Greg (Caty) Arp of Edgerton, Minnesota, Kelly (Brandon) Kounkel of Jasper, Minnesota, and Kristen Schendel and family of Sparta, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Keaton, Tucker, and Bergen Arp, and Kainen and Bentley Kounkel; his siblings, Curtis (Dee) Arp of Jasper, Minnesota, Michael Arp of Hardwick, Minnesota, Daniel Arp of Hardwick, Minnesota, Dennis (Deb) Arp of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lori (Bob) Hellwinckel of Pipestone, Minnesota, and David Arp of Edgerton, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Dean is preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Wilson.
