Deanna Bahn

January 25, 1938 — November 13, 2014

DeAnna Joy (Lovell) Bahn was born on January 25, 1938 to Walter and Beatrice (Ditmeyer) Lovell in Chandler, Minnesota. She was raised north of Slayton, Minnesota and attended country school in District #62. She attended and graduated from Slayton High School. After completing her education, she worked in Worthington, Minnesota and the Twin Cities as an office clerk at a grocery store. On June 6, 1959, she was united in marriage to Virgil Bahn at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. While Virgil was in the Air Force, they lived in Wichita, Kansas. After his service, the two moved back to Pipestone. In the spring of 1963, they moved to San Mateo, California where DeAnna worked for the Shell Oil Company. While in California, they were blessed with a daughter, Julie. In 1974, they returned to Pipestone. They purchased a farm in the Pipestone area where they still resided. For the past four years, DeAnna has been battling a rare lung condition. On Thursday, November 13, 2014, she died at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 18 days.

DeAnna was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. She served on the State Barber Board for a number of years. She was a chairperson of the Pipestone County Republican Party and had the honor of meeting President George W. Bush. She loved traveling with her sisters, reading and gardening.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Virgil; her daughter Julie (Paul) Nesheim of Goldfield, Iowa; two grandchildren, Dalton and Carson; three sisters, Sylvia Erickson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Betty Swan of Slayton, Minnesota, and Minerva Verdoes of Marshall, Minnesota; three brothers, Vernon (Alverna) Lovell of Galt, California, Darwin (Lucy) Lovell of Storden, Minnesota, and Roger (Marie) Lovell of Jackson, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna (Warren) Sundquist and Marie Eick; four brothers, Daryl Lovell, Harold Lovell, Walter “Bill” Lovell and Rolland Lovell.
