Delores Ann Nielsen…
was born on April 8, 1947 to Albert and Edith (Foster) Arndt in Holland, Minnesota. She attended school in Holland until the 5th grade then attended Pipestone High School in Pipestone, Minnesota until the 9th grade. Delores met Clifford Underhill in August, 1964. Their union was blessed with twin girls, Dawn and Denise. In early 1965, she became employed at Cambells Soup Company in Worthington, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Clifford in September, 1965. Following their marriage, they resided in Worthington where she then began working at Feckers Meat Plant. On January 29, 1966, she gave birth to twin girls, Dawn and Denise. In fall of 1967, she moved with her girls to Slayton, Minnesota. In June, 1968, she and Cliff were divorced. On June 14, 1969, she was united in marriage to Gary Nielsen at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they resided in Slayton, Minnesota until late 1978 when they moved to Lake Wilson, Minnesota. They were blessed with two boys, Alan and Ronald. On December 16, 1986, Gary preceded her in death. After his death, Delores and her children moved back to Holland. In February, 1990, they moved to Pipestone. In the fall of 1995, she moved to Brewster, Minnesota. Then, in 2005, she moved to Kingman, Arizona and lived there until 2008, when she moved back to Minnesota. In January, 2014, she moved to Salem, South Dakota. Delores died at her home on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 67 years, ten months and 19 days.
Delores was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pipestone. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gambling, music and playing cards, especially pinochle. She loved being with family.
She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Dawn and her husband John Thompson of Kingman, Arizona, Denise and her husband Mike Suedbeck of Brewster, Minnesota, Alan and his wife Julie Nielsen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Ron and his wife Melissa Nielsen of Monticello, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Chas, Michael, Lori, Matthew, Amber, Skyler, Braden, Austin and Christopher; nine great-grandchildren, Jasper, Benjamin, Anabelle, Lucas, Domanic, Ty, Ashtyn, Kiera and Seth; two sisters, Doris and her husband Greg Goertz of Kingman, Arizona and Sandy Hook of Monticello, Minnesota; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Arndt of Jasper, Minnesota, Joanne Arndt of Holland, Minnesota and Anneta Netanyahu (Arndt) of Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Nielsen; her parents; five brothers, Duane, Wally, Roger, Butch and Ezra (Billy); one sister, Darlene; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn.
