DELORES MAE HENDRICKSEN was born November 13, 1933 to Donald and Minnie (Sodergren) Stevens in Mitchell, South Dakota. Delores was baptized and joined the First Methodist Church on March 25, 1945. She attended grade school and high school in Mitchell. Delores worked at the Roxy Theatre during high school and then St. Joseph Hospital after her high school graduation. She was united in marriage to Fred Hendricksen on November 17, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, South Dakota. Delores became a member of Zion Lutheran Church after her adult confirmation on April 11, 1954. The couple made their home together in Mitchell. Delores worked part-time at Hendricksen Body Shop while raising their young children and being a homemaker. The family moved to Luverne, Minnesota in 1965, and the couple began Fred’s Body Shop in 1975, with Delores again helping out part-time at the business while keeping very busy with raising their six children. Fred preceded her in death on June 23, 2010. In 2016, Delores became a resident at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota. On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, following a brief illness with COVID-19, Delores was called home to heaven while at the Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 8 days.

Delores was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. She shared fond memories of joining the neighborhood birthday club on Cedar Street. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and baking. Playing cards and board games with family and friends were her favorite pastimes. Delores most enjoyed entertaining family and friends and loved babysitting her grandkids. Family Sunday picnics and reunions over the years were some of her most cherished memories.

Delores is lovingly remembered by her six children, Gregory and his wife Julie of DeForest, Wisconsin, Peggy Hewitt of Luverne, Cindy Rierson and her husband Daniel of Roseville, Minnesota, Jerry and his wife Gayle of Tea, South Dakota, Kristi Mueller and her husband Eric of Marion, Iowa, and Nancy Hoogland and her husband Terry of Luverne; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Berniece Preston and Elaine Dougherty; many extended cousins from the Lassegard family.
