Dennis James Gyberg

DENNIS JAMES GYBERG, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Sanford Luverne Hospice.

Dennis was born on August 14, 1952, in Luverne, Minnesota; he was the third son of Knute and Mabel Gyberg. Dennis attended Luverne High School and graduated in 1970. He went on to attend Jackson Vocational School in Jackson, Minnesota. After working in the Jackson area, Dennis returned to Luverne in 1976 where he settled until his passing. In additional to farming, Dennis filled his time with camping, restoring classic cars, building three wheelers, and riding motorcycles. He will be remembered for his kind heart and ability to strike up a conversation with whoever happened to be standing next to him. His stories will be in our hearts forever.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen (nee Mack) Gyberg whom he wed on August 18, 1984 at Blue Mound Church near Luverne; three daughters, Jennifer (nee Gyberg) Ainsworth and her husband Andrew of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dawn (nee Geslin) Gunsalus and her husband Brandon of Luverne, and Dana (nee Geslin) Swanson and her husband Kris of Luverne. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Mabel Gyberg; two brothers, Stanley Gyberg and his wife Irene of Brandon, South Dakota, and Norman Gyberg and his wife Darlene of Magnolia, Minnesota. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Harrison Ainsworth, Samuel Ainsworth and Eli Ainsworth, Lindsay (Tyson) Weber, Alison (Tony) Willers, Tyler Brands, Katelyn (Mark) VanAartsen, Codie (Cristina) Swanson and Jordin Swanson; and 3 great-grandchildren, Reagan Willers, Nolan Weber and Reece Weber. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Knute Gyberg; and brother, Steven Gyberg.

Memorials may be directed to Sanford Luverne Hospice.

His last request was to be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.

A private family service will be held.
